  • Bexley Community Foundation Fund:

    Love Your Alley received a $4,000 grant for programming in May.

    Bexley United Methodist Preschool will receive $5,000 to help with the installation of a new playground that is open to the community.

    $2,000 was awarded to the Bexley Fairy Village for additional structures to be added.

    $15,000 was awarded to the North and South Community Gardens for additional installations at the Gardens.

    $10,000 was awarded to the Montrose Elementary PTO for installation of shade structures at the playgrounds.

    Bexley Police Department received $8,000 for HeartSafe Bexley, a new initiative to have more AEDs accessible to Bexley residents.

    $2,000 was awarded to the Bexley Recreation and Parks Department to help put on the COSI Science Festival in Bexley in May.

    Paige and Mike Crane Fund:

    $537.68 was awarded to the Arbor Day Committee to provide books about trees to be given out at community events.

    Bexley Women’s Club Fund:

    $1,000 was awarded to DARN to assist with summer food for families in need.

  • Bexley Community Foundation Fund:

    $5,000 was awarded to Cycling Without Age, a local nonprofit that uses a trishaw bike to take Seniors out and about in our community.

    $5,336 was awarded to the Bexley Women’s Club for their annual Garden tour.

    $25,000 was awarded to the Bexley Athletic Department at the Bexley City Schools for upgraded tennis courts at Bexley High School. The courts are open to community members when not being used by the school.

    $2,500 was awarded to the City of Bexley to launch an Arbor Day celebration in April.

    $15,000 was awarded to the City of Bexley for the Bexley Community Gardens. Additional enhancements have been made to both the North and South Community Gardens.

    Bexley Police Department: The Bexley Police Department received $10,000 for to purchase a training simulator to enhance training for our Bexley police officers.

    Bexley Celebrations and Events: Bexley Celebrations and Events received $5,000 to support community programming including the 4th of July evening celebration and parade, the Main Event movie series, Jazz in the Park, and more!

    Bexley Women's Club: $2,800 was awarded for the Bexley Home & Garden Tour. Because of the grant, the tour book will be printed in full color.

    Capital University: A $2,445.50 grant was awarded to help underwrite the cost to host an Active Aging Symposium in the Spring of 2019.

    City of Bexley: $3,000 was awarded for the COSI Science Festival taking place in different communities, including Bexley, in early May.

    City of Bexley: A $13,500 grant will assist in the first ever Green: Bexley Environmental Fair, first ever Bexley Youth Service Week and the 2nd Bexley Police Appreciation week.

    City of Bexley: $40,000 was awarded to the City for a new .65 acre Dog Park in South Bexley.

    City of Bexley/Bexley Historical Society: $4,437 was awarded for a new plaque to be installed in Drexel Circle commemorating Camp Bushnell.

    Drexel Theatre/Friends of the Drexel will receive $5,000 to install a new ticketing system for the Drexel Theatre, which will support efficient and effective operations, expand community engagement, and will allow the Drexel to become a one-stop ticketing resource for Bexley’s community organizations.

    VOICEcorps Reading Service: $1,300 was awarded to expand services to our Bexley community.

    Bexley Day of Kindness: $1,000 was awarded for the 3rd annual Bexley Day of Kindness, a free community event in which adults, teens and families participate in a variety of hands-on activities which build and promote kindness.

    Bexley Marlins Swim Team: $10,000 will purchase an electronic scoreboard to help with home swim meets.

    Community Cardboard Challenge: The Community Cardboard Challenge promotes and celebrates creativity in our community.

    City of Bexley: $3,000 will help purchase reusable bags for every household as the plastic ban in Bexley begins on January 1, 2020.

    City of Bexley: A grant was awarded for landscape design services along the Cassady Avenue corridor south of Fifth Avenue.

    City of Bexley: A total of $40,000 has been awarded for the South Community Garden. The project includes a new fence, a garden shed, outdoor pergola and gathering area, raised beds, compost bins, benches and more.

    St. Catharine of Siena School: A $5,000 grant was awarded for the building of a new playground to be used by the school and residents in the surrounding community.

    Safe Route to Montrose: Colorful and clearly demarcated alleyways between the Library and Montrose Elementary and Roosevelt to Montrose Elementary were installed to provide a safer more walkable & bike friendly route to Montrose Elementary.

    Bexley Youth and Recreation Fund Grant

    DARN - $5,000 was awarded to DARN and Bexley Recreation and Parks to assist with funding for camp scholarships.

    Splish, Splash and Dash Youth Triathlon: The Bexley Recreation and Parks Department received a grant of $1,000 for the 7th annual Bexley youth triathlon. This unique event, which had over 340 participants last year, was launched in 2013 with a grant from the Fund.

    Susie and Charlie Rath Creative Arts Fund Grant

    Bexley Public Library Art Library: The Bexley Public Library received $2,500 to start an art library in which works of original art from central Ohio artists can be checked out from the Library using a Bexley Public Library card.

    Jeffrey Mansion Summer Camp: A magic day at Camp took place this summer including a show, workshop and one-on-one training.

    Bexley Celebrations and Events: Bexley Celebrations and Events received two grants - one for $1,000 to provide $250 awards to four street floats in this year's 4th of July parade and another grant for $5,000 to support the 4th of July evening celebration on the lawn of Capital University.

    City of Bexley/Bexley Citizens Police Academy: $7,500 was awarded for Bexley Police Department appreciation week including a cookout for police officers and their families.

    City of Bexley: $5,000 was awarded to the City for diversity programming in our community.

    City of Bexley: $3,000 was awarded to the City of Bexley to produce three Public Service Announcements on questions our Bexley Police Department often receive.

    City of Bexley: The City of Bexley received a grant for $5,000 to install four CoGo Bike Share Stations at four locations in Bexley.

    Bexley Bows: A grant of $2,815 was awarded to Bexley Bows, a new theater group in Bexley. The Bexley Bows will produce a full-length play in the Winter 2018/Spring 2019. The play will be fully produced by volunteers, including actors, technicians, director, stage manager, and designers

    City of Bexley: The City of Bexley received a grant for $28,165 to install a new fence at the South Community Garden.

    Capital University: A $2,000 grant was awarded to Capital University's Opera Engagement Program to introduce youth to opera by performing in our Bexley community.

    Local Matters: A grant was awarded for a healthy cooking demonstration that took place at Jeffrey Mansion on Thursday, May 10, 2018.

    Bexley Beautification Fund Grants

    Broad Street/Gould Gateway: A $25,000 grant will enhance the entryway at Broad Street and Gould.

    Broad Street Gateway at St. Charles: A $20,000 grant will enhance the gateway at Broad Street and St. Charles.

    Jeffrey Mansion Entryway: A $7,500 grant will help create a design plan for replanting at the Jeffrey Mansion entryway.

    Safe Conversations about Race: The Bexley Public Library received $3,000 for a three-part community program where community members will engage in an interactive discussion about race in a safe space.

    Cassingham Playground Project: $8,000 was awarded to install a new playground at Cassingham Elementary.

    Recreation and Parks Department: A $5,000 grant will fund a new Park n' Play program.

    Bexley Police Department: A grant was awarded to the Bexley Police Department to purchase fatal vision goggles .

    Capital University: A $5,000 grant helped underwrite an Active Aging Symposium on Capital's campus in March of 2017.

    Bexley Youth and Recreation Fund Grants

    Bexley Boys Youth Lacrosse: The Bexley Boys Youth Lacrosse program received a grant of $2,755 to purchase 30 helmets, goals and balls so the program can be expanded to include 1st and 2nd grade boys in our community.

    Splish, Splash and Dash Youth Triathlon: The Bexley Recreation and Parks Department received a grant of $1,000 for the fifth annual Bexley youth triathlon. This unique event, which had over 325 participants last year, was launched in 2013 with a grant from the Fund.

    Cassingham Playground Project: $5,000 was awarded for the new playground.

    Recreation and Parks Department: $4,000 was awarded for the new Park n' Play program. The Park n' Play program takes place at Jeffrey Park, the pool and elementary schools and provides a fun place for kids to spend time outside with camp counselors.

    Bexley Beautification Fund Grant

    Gateway Plant Material - $23,000 will enhance the plant material at the gateway at Broad Street and Westland Avenue.

    Susie and Charlie Rath Creative Arts Fund Grant

    BexArts: The first grant from the Susie and Charlie Rath Creative Arts Fund will award $5,000 to BexArts for their inaugural season in summer of 2018.

  • Bexley Community Fund Grants

    Bexley Recreation and Parks Department: An $81,000 grant, the Foundation’s largest to date, to the Bexley Recreation and Parks Department for the Alum Creek Park Athletic Fields. The grant will fund the development of a 1.5 acre athletic field, parking lot with lighting, connection to the Alum Creek Pathway (a project also funded by the Foundation), a playground, bike racks, portable restroom facilities, trash receptacles, and emergency call boxes.

    City of Bexley: A $10,000 grant to the City of Bexley will build a stairway to provide a point of access from Main Street to the Alum Creek Park Pathway, also funded by a Foundation grant in 2014. The pathway can currently be accessed from Astor Avenue and provides a beautiful trail along Alum Creek on the east side of the creek.

    Bexley Celebrations Association: An $8,000 grant to the Bexley Celebrations Association will support this year’s 4th of July Celebration. The Bexley Community Foundation will be the Presenting Sponsor of the July 4th evening events on the lawn of Capital University.

    Bexley Police Department: A grant was awarded to the Bexley Police Department to purchase an electric motorcycle that will patrol hard to reach paths and alleyways and carry an AED, purchased by a previous Foundation grant .

    City of Bexley: A $40,000 grant to the City of Bexley will build a Community Garden in North Bexley.

    Bexley Beautification Fund

    Streetscaping along Drexel Avenue and Main Street: A $13,725 grant will improve Drexel Avenue and Main Street with flower pots and new curbs.

    Bexley Youth and Recreation Fund Grants

    Splish, Splash and Dash Youth Triathlon: The Bexley Recreation and Parks Department received a grant of $1,000 for the forth annual Bexley youth triathlon. This unique event, which had over 275 participants last year, was launched in 2013 with a grant from the Fund.

    Alum Creek Athletic Fields Soccer Goals: The Bexley Recreation and Parks Department received a grant of $6,000 to purchase four soccer goals for the new Alum Creek Athletic Fields.

    Cub Scout Pack 166 and Boy Scout Troop 166: $1,000 was awarded to purchase additional bees and two new hives for the Cubs and Boy Scounts.

    DARN Camp Scholarships: DARN received a grant of $2,000 for scholarships for students to attend summer camps in Bexley.

    Books for Bedtime: $500 was awarded to Books for Bedtime for the 1st annual Book Bash to be held in May, 2017.

  • Bexley Community Fund Grants

    Friends of the Drexel Theatre: The Friends of the Drexel Theatre received a $55,530 grant, payable over two years, to restore the marquee of this Bexley landmark. Together with a previous grant of $25,000 for digital projection equipment, the Foundation has provided $80,530 to improve the Theatre.

    Bexley Celebrations Association: The BCA received a $20,000 grant to help reduce the cost of BCA’s various events by enabling it to purchase, rather than rent, key equipment. This grant will also support this year’s 4th of July Celebration. The Bexley Community Foundation will be the Presenting Sponsor of the July 4th evening events on the lawn of Capital University.

    City of Bexley: A $5,000 grant to the City of Bexley will advance Bexley as an eco-friendly community by covering a portion of the costs of four charging stations for electric vehicles. The charging stations will be located near the new City Hall on the west side of the Bexley Square Center parking lot.

    Recreation and Parks Department: A $4,680 grant to the Bexley Recreation and Parks Department will launch a program for neighborhood block parties. The grant funds a Block Party Kit which can be rented from the Department. The Kit includes a trailer filled with block party essentials, such as tables, chairs, pop-up tents, coolers, extension cords, first aid supplies, games and a snow cone machine.

    Bexley Police Department: The Bexley Police Department was awarded $15,890 for the purchase of nine new portable defibrillators used in emergencies to treat sudden cardiac arrest.

    Bexley Police Department: $1,000 was awarded to the Bexley Police Department to establish the Bexley Honor Guard. The Honor Guard will represent the City of Bexley and the police force in a positive, honorable, and professional light in community events and events outside Bexley.

    Bexley Beautification Fund Grants:

    Flower Baskets: A $3,000 grant will improve the North Cassady Avenue business district with the addition of flower baskets matching those installed along Main Street.

    Holiday Lights: To add to the Holiday Lights that were displayed on Drexel Circle in 2014, we are adding $1,000 to add more lights in 2015/2016. The lights will also be displayed earlier in the season and last throughout the winter.

    Replacement Trees: $25,000 to infill the trees that were diseased and damged throughout the City.

    Bexley Youth and Recreation Fund Grants

    Splish, Splash and Dash Youth Triathlon: The Bexley Recreation and Parks Department received a grant of $1,000 for the third annual Bexley youth triathlon to be held on Saturday, August 15, 2015. This unique event, which had over 250 participants last year, was launched in 2013 with a grant from the Fund.

    Bexley Community Fund Grants - $94,711

    Montrose Playground: The Montrose PTO received a $12,000 grant to create an ADA accessible school/community playground area at Montrose Elementary School. Our grant funded ADA accessible play structures. We partnered on this project with the Bexley Public Schools, the Bexley Education Foundation, local businesses and other donors.

    The Main Event: The City of Bexley received a grant for $18,025 to purchase movie equipment for the City’s highly successful summer program, The Main Event.

    Youth Technology Workshops: Our $4,500 grant to Tech Corps, a local nonprofit, funded three Bexley-based workshops for 3rd – 6th graders consisting of four 1-hour modules on robotics, programming, coding and application development. Tech Corps partnered on the project with the Bexley Public Library, Bexley Public Schools, Columbus School for Girls, Capital University and the Bexley Recreation and Parks Department.

    Alum Creek Pathway: The Bexley Recreation and Parks Department received a grant for $20,000 to create a pedestrian path along Alum Creek between Main Street and Livingston Avenue, as part of a plan expanding recreational facilities trhoughout our community.

    Bexley Community Foundation Conference Room: The City of Bexley received a grant of $8,550 to create a community conference room in the new City Hall. The Bexley Community Foundation Conference Room will be a first-class conference space serving community organizations, as well as the City. It will be ADA accessible and available for after-hours use, with seating for 14-16 people, comprehensive audio/visual equipment, coffee and beverage service and access to restrooms.

    The Big Think: The Bexley Public Library and the City of Bexley received a grant for $5,736 to create a new speaker series. The program will showcase Bexley as a community of learners by presenting experts who live in or have other connections to Bexley.

    Summer Food Program: The Developmental Assets Resource Network (DARN) received a second $4,500 installment of a three-year grant to provide breakfast and lunch for eligible Bexley school children during the summer and school breaks.

    Kosher Food Cart: The Jewish Community Center of Greater Columbus was awarded a $6,000 grant to help fund a food cart serving Kosher and vegetarian foods at various Bexley community events.

    WOSU Neighborhoods: WOSU TV received a $5,000 grant to support its Columbus Neighborhoods: Bexley documentary premiering on February 15, 2015.

    Livingston Commercial District Landscaping: The City of Bexley received a grant of $8,600 to improve the Livingston Avenue commercial area by creating a tree lawn. Our grant will fund the purchase of trees, with the City paying legal, surveying and other project costs.

    Baseball Pitching Machines: The Bexley Recreation and Parks Department received a grant of $900 to purchase five (5) spring loaded pitching machines for its youth baseball and softball programs.

    Bexley Volunteer Organization: The Bexley Volunteer Organization is a newly formed group that provides volunteer opportunities for Bexley residents to work on Bexley community projects. The $900 grant helped fund the group’s start-up costs.

    Bexley Beautification Fund Grants - $72,045

    Flower Baskets: Bexley in Bloom funded the flower baskets along Main Street and Broad Street and Clifton Avenue bridges.

    Trees on Broad Street: Bexley in Bloom funded the planting of 20 trees on Broad Street.

    Jeffrey Mansion Entryway: Trees for Bexley program is providing part of the funding for a new Parkview Avenue entryway to Jeffrey Mansion complementing the historic Mansion and the new sidewalk installation also funded by the Bexley Community Foundation.

    Drexel Circle: Trees for Bexley funded the treatment of hornbeam trees and purchase of holiday lighting.

    100 Replacement Trees: Trees for Bexley planted 100 trees to replace diseased and damged trees throughout the City.

    20 Red Buds for Jeffrey Park: Trees for Bexley planted 20 red bud trees in Jeffrey Park along Clifton Avenue.
