Planned Giving

One of the best ways to build your legacy for the Bexley of tomorrow is to make a planned gift to the Bexley Community Foundation today.

In addition to accepting current gifts such as cash and marketable securities, we can work with you and your financial and professional advisers to structure a planned gift which achieves your long term charitable objective, as well as your financial and estate goals.  We assist donors in identifying giving opportunities in the Bexley community which meet their charitable priorities and provide advice on how the gift can be implemented.  Options include making an unrestricted gift or establishing a named fund to support the Foundation or a Bexley cause or organization of your choice.

 PLANNED GIFTS INCLUDE:

• Bequest in Your Will or Trust
• Beneficiary Designation in Your IRA or Other Retirement Plan
• Charitable Gift Annuity
• Charitable Remainder Trust
• Charitable Lead Trust
• Gift of Life Insurance

IT'S EASY TO MAKE A PLANNED GIFT TO THE BEXLEY COMMUNITY FOUNDATION :
• You determine the amount and purpose of the gift.
• You consult with your advisers regarding the form of the gift and sign the necessary documentation.
• You may ask us to help you define the purpose of the gift and set the rules on how it will be administered.
• You may also notify us of your intended gift during your lifetime, becoming an active participant in our Foundation family as a member of The Halliday Society.

Halliday Society

The Halliday Society was created in 2010 to designate and recognize donors who make a planned gift to the Bexley Community Foundation.  It was named in honor of Peter B. and Janet Halliday, recognizing their planned gift of $3 million to the Bexley Community Foundation – our first planned gift – and their leadership in establishing the foundation.

Pete and Janet also were instrumental in establishing the Bexley Heritage Fund at the Columbus Foundation in 1999.  Pete chaired the Heritage Fund until its assets were transferred to the newly organized Bexley Community Foundation in 2010 and played a key role in developing many of the Foundation’s initiatives for our community.  To be a member of The Halliday Society is truly an opportunity to be part of Bexley’s history as well as its future.  Pete served as our first Board of Directors Chair and continues as a Director and member of our Executive Committee.  Janet is a member of our Program and Grants Committee.

Legacy gifts through The Halliday Society will benefit the Bexley community for generations to come.  Because a legacy gift builds tradition, enables continuity and literally endows an organization’s future, the coat of arms of the Borough of Bexley, England was adopted as the stately and fitting symbol for the Society.  It will serve to identify members of The Halliday Society in perpetuity.
